Good stuff here! Buzz is my favorite-- "Oh, hey Shawn"--and then the pinstripes comment. Awesome.
I love that Shawn goes into the office early, precisely because it is so unexpected and sort of "out of character". But it is so Shawn to be sneaky like that, I think.
Great writing. Love the present tense, the observations, the characterization. Nice pacing. :)

Wow, I loved this! I've always thought about what Juliet and Lassiter are like when there's no one else really around. I tried my hand at writing about their whole partnership/friendship, but I like what you've written much, much better. It was also really cool to see it through Shawn's eyes (he obviously has a bit of a bias toward Juliet).
Oh, and I loved how Buzz was the only one to recognize him. I think it's because he looks beyond how people are expected to look like and past stereotypes. *sigh* I love Buzz. So thank you for that :)
I loved everything overall. My favorite line, I think was "Lassiter is uptight and a little bit out of his mind, and Shawn, well, Shawn bugs the hell out of him." It just summed up Lassiter's personality so well.

Shawn can't answer him because he doesn't realize until later that the jealousy he thought he had been controlling so well had really just been using him like a Muppet.
*explodes* THIS LINE!!! ADSFDGFHJGHGSF!! I've been delighting on all the goodness of this fic already, but then you added this part and killed my brain!! I can't stop angst giggling because it's so perfect and so hurty at the same time and GAAAAAH!! *flails*
He'd gotten chills watching her interrogate a suspect to confession with Lassiter just standing back in the corner of the room, watching with this look on his face—he was trying so damn hard to play it cool, but his pride just couldn't be stifled.
My AWW meter blasted right out of my body. Seriously, I think it's hitting ground somewhere in Bethel. GUUUUUUUUUUH!!! You make me love Lassiter in a way that nothing else has managed to do!! I can barely hold my glee to notallcaps cause of the sheer intensity of my adoration!! I love you, and I love this story LIKWOAHZ!!

*Applauds* One sentence and you nailed it exactly right! And suddenly I'm being slammed by bunnies of wrath about the fact that there IS something mentally off with Lassiter beyond the norm! Like, he fights so hard to control the wiggle of instability and if it weren't for his skills in so many other areas he'd be shackled to a cot in the padded room. He's been getting worse through the years – letting it slip here and there where before his sheer assiness kept it in check. But the more he opens up, the less he can keep that sliver of instability to himself... ARSTDFGKJDHSTDJFHHGSFGDJF!!!

This is a very interesting idea--well done. Hiding in plain sight. It would be fun if they did a little something like this on the show. I also love the part where good old Buzz is the one that see him (great touch--and so right). Also--it was a great way to show the connection between Lassie and Jules and a great touch (again) to show that this would lead Shawn to be jealous.

oooh, can you write a story where buzz is as usually ignored in an important case but is the one that eventually give a lot of crucial help that solves it??
you'll obviously do a great job since you can tell he isn't just a side character with you....!!!!!!!!
