So, between the topic of this story and your username, I take it you like coffee? XD
Brilliant debut, I loved the last line.
Author's Response: Actually, it's kind of funny, because I really don't like coffee. XD I love the idea of it, though. Coffee, writing, pencils, a sunny cafe - those kinds of things inspire me for some reason, lol. XDD I actually got the coffee part of this whole thing from a completely different place - I was writing a totally different short, where I was going to have 10 year old Shawn meet little Jules, and in the beginning he was arguing with his dad about going on a trip. Henry refuses to let Shawn stay home alone, because, as he put it, "The last time I left you home alone I came back to find te kitchen covered in coffee and Gus sobbing about how hard it was being an adult". In the end I decided the story of him being home alone for the first time would be more fun to write than the little Shawn/Jules story, so I stopped and wrote about that instead. XD

Glad you made it to Psychfic!! :D
That was great! Gus' jealousy over not being the first to be left home alone was really funny and the dialogue was spot on young Shawn and Gus. Great job.
Author's Response: Hello, and thanks for the welcome! XD I'm glad you enjoyed the story! It was fun to write young Gus and Shawn, and your compliment means a lot to me! :3

but Henry knew better. He had nightmares about that face
*chokes* ROFLOLOLOLOL!!! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA!! YES! This line threw me on the floor and I haven't managed to really crawl back in my chair since HAHAHAHAHAHA!! LOVE it so much already!!!
Shawn let loose one of his cocksure grins as he played his trump card - "you know you're the only one who can keep me grounded. There's no telling what bad stuff I could do by myself. And what if I get hurt, or the house gets attacked, or-"
You know, I love that Shawn is self aware enough to realize this truth about himself and yet, rather than avoid those consequences, he uses them to manipulate Gus. Which – he never STOPPED doing haha! And Gus, of course, cannot let Shawn be or blow him off cause he is more than savvy about his best bud's idiocy and KNOWS Shawn needs supervision of some sort. I adore that Gus has always been Shawn's caretaker and – honestly – I'm amazed Shawn didn't get himself killed all those years he was traveling the world alone after graduation.
"I don't know," Gus said, a little uneasily. "I don't think your dad will be very happy if we mess up his coffee machine . . ."
"I won't mess it up. It'll be fine. Now man up and go put the water on to boil."
That last line, again, destroyed me, HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! “boil” Duuuude, I nearly groaned aloud!! And, too, it was an immediate call back to Shawn 2.0 where Shawn destroyed Gus's humidifier haha! This scene was just as pure and ridiculously delightful!
God, I solemnly swear that if I don't kill him before then, on his eighteenth birthday I'm kicking him out the second the clock hits 12:00.
Perfection! Oh, poor Henry!! What really makes that ending so wonderful are the double layers of hilarity and heavy angst – knowing how things ended up between Shawn and his dad.
This is a fantastic short! It had literally everything I could want from a humorous story and I have tremendous warm fuzzies of laughter bubbles inside after reading it! I can't wait to see what you'll post next!!
Author's Response: Omgosh, I'm practically crying (happy tears, of course)! I cannot explain how happy your review made me - it's a wonderful, wonderful feeling, and I can't thank you enough! ^^ I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Again, thanks a million for the kind review! :D

Very well done, just like Shawn and Gus. I love pre-season stories. I look forward to your next story.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the compliment! This was my first Psych fic, so that really means a lot to me~ ^^
