Well, are you happy??? Are you satisfied you're making me, a grown ass woman in the middle of her post-Christmas activities, whimper with actual pain? Seriously, my confusing sense of humor aside, this story KILLED me - in all the best ways. The setting, the heartwrenching truth of Lassie's increasingly muddled thoughts (remembering how he's always wanted to be a chief of police AND a father - oh, my secretly family-man Carlton) the suspence in the last sentences - because, will he pull through? Will Jules save him? Will he have the chance to wake up and realize he's not nearly as alone as he thought he was? *is emotional* *hums to a frequency unknown to human beings* ANYWAY, THIS IS FINE. VERY FINE.
Special highlights: "Carlton was sad and afraid." Okay, I feel personally murdered by this sentence - my boy Lassie, alone, sad, and so afraid to actually admit it, even if just in his head? I'm so not ready for this, and so here for this at the same time.
And Jules being both his last thought and his savior? Freaking perfection. I'm screaming, not gonna lie.
To get to the real questions - you have any idea what it means hanging here, not knowing what's gonna happen to our head detective? And most importantly, can I bribe you into writing a little sequel? What's your beef, dear Insert? Jewels? Pineapples? Gus's infamous credit cards?
