Bio:

I was born a poor black child...wait, no. That was Steve Martin. Nevermind. I was born in the East Bay, a white girl from the hood. Seriously. The navy base in Oakland was in the hood.

I wrote my first paper, a report on Arabian horses, in the first grade and was hooked on writing from then on. By the time I was in third grade, I had a typing speed of 65 wpm and my own little cast of characters and accompanying short stories, which I would print out like a script to be acted out by my Barbie dolls. As the years progressed, my fiction writing came in bursts, with entire scenes popping into my head that had to be typed out or else I'd get no rest, day or night.

I found a niche for my non-fiction writing in college, for I, unlike so many of my classmates, love writing research papers, especially historically-driven papers. The most fun I have ever had in a college class was my research paper class, which culminated in a 20-page paper on Rodgers & Hammerstein. I recently finished a paper on St. Benedict, one of the primary people involved in the rise and spread of western monasticism. Though non-fiction and research pose a challenge, it is a challenge I love.

My fiction found a place on the old Josh Groban message board before the peak of "fanfiction" on the OT section and the eventual move to a new board. My writing was not truly fan fiction, as it had nothing to do with Josh, but my protagonist was about 6' tall with dark brown curly hair and an impish grin. I wrote a trilogy with my characters and grew to love them and know them as well as my own real friends.

After I finished the trilogy, I took a long hiatus (3 years, to be exact) while I worked as a nanny and then as my father's secretary before going back to school for my degree in Christian Ministry. A few weeks prior to finals, as I was beginning in earnest on my half-dozen projects, I took a few minutes to goof off and write a songfic, hoping that would clear my mind enough to progress on the particularly difficult project I was working on, as well as get the song out of my head. What emerged was a songfic about Shawn and Juliet. This lit a spark to all the various little scenes I had in my head, giving my nameless and faceless characters names and faces. I was also blessed in having found this site a few weeks earlier, so my writing could be shared rather than having to sit in my e-mail's draft folder like everything else I have written and not published.

That is about it. I am who I am, as you will find, and I like to insert parts of my personality in what I write, though it is usually subtle. I must say, that though I try to remain as 'umble as Uriah Heep, I do so adore reviews on what I write. It is like honey on the tongue of this very hungry author!
