Good story until all of the easy forgiveness from Shawn. He let Juliet off the hook way too easy. And I wouldn't have them moving back so quickly. It would have been good fodder for another story. But I love Mychal and Vex. Great original characters.

Wow.
As soon as I read the description, I knew what this was going to be about.
I was only 4 at the time, but I have just as clear of a memory at the time as others. I was watching cartoons in the living room when the broadcast came on and my dad ran in from his bedroom. I remember us watching it together, and him talking on the phone with my mom... I remember that whole morning. I'm pretty sure I only half understood the gravity of it all at that moment, but I knew something really terrible was happening, and I watched that LIVE broadcast with the rest of the nation...
This fic is so welove done. It feels like a totally realistic 2001 Shawn, Gus, and Henry scene, especially because of the circumstance. You wrote them all so well and in character, it's amazing. You still held a respectful air to the situation, while replaying that terrible day as if Henry and the boys actually experienced in accuracy. Poor Shawn would totally manage to be near it when it happened, and have to witness it all. I love that your brought up his dad's concerns with his memory... I also love that Shawn was the one to reach out to his dad not just because of the post card and he knew his dad would be tracking him down anyway, but because he was in actual pain and I think he honestly wanted to talk to his dad for even the smallest amount of comfort.
This is so well-written, which helps it on all aspects. Great job.

HUH. Interesting story. I've been a huge fan of a bunch of OCs (especially when there is obviously back story to them, like the Mychal sis which is obviously not canon).
Anyway, it's still a good story. Shawn whump is always appreciated.
