It does make a lot of sense actually, timeline-wise. I know the whole timeline on the show isn't that free of error, but it was said that his parents divorced when Shawn was 14 or 15, and Henry once says something to Lassiter along the lines of "try living with him for seventeen years". So I always took it that Shawn stayed with Henry after the divorce, for whatever reason. At least at first.
But dude, that's not really important now, is it :D Not as important as this chapter, at least. Girl, you broke my heart in places here. In a strangely good way, though. As a "peaceful" way to settle the custody question, it's a great idea.
I loved the fact that both Shawn's mom as well as Henry were so convinced that Shawn was going to chose her, and their surprise at his decision was done really well. Especially Henry's "you've got chores to do". Guess the old man didn't really know what else to say to that decision ;-) Speechless Henry, we don't see it that often.
Think about it. Most of us can remember that time where we were hit in the face with the pain of love. And that is how you first find it, with pain. The first time your heart is broken is when you discover what love is.
You just had to get me all teary-eyed with that line of wisdom, didn't you? Because it's so true.
Whether or not I regret my decision is a question I’ll never answer.
But the answer to that question surely would be a most interesting one. But all right, enough of my blabbering. This was great, actually there's nothing else to say. I enjoyed it very much.

I really liked this! It was awesomely written! And I totally get what you're saying about Shawn's building anger toward Henry making more sense if he was w/ him after the divorce.
There is a line tho, in the pilot, that makes one think that at some point he did live w/ just his mom and not Henry. Cuz when Shawn shows up at Henry's house in that first episode he tells Henry that he didn't tell him he'd moved back and Henry replies by saying that Shawn didn't tell him that he had moved away and then Shawn goes on to say that, and I quote, "That was different. I was helping my mom through her divorce."
So I think that at some point he left Henry to live with her but I do think it very plausible that something like this happened first and I loved this!
And, as I already stated, it was so well written! Really cool. Looking forward to more!

Wow...this promises to be deep and interesting. :D LOVE it! And I can't wait for more. I really do hope they'll all be as deep, and I like the idea of Shawn writing it out after a near-death situation and all. I imagine that with how great all your other writing is, this will be awesome.
And I honestly won't mind similarity - it's inevitable. There are only so many things one can do for this sort of thing. I'm guessing that with it's popularity, that would mean at least ten will be writing soon, and if it's a 100 fics each, that makes it 1000 fic ideas @_@ not to mention all the Moments thingies going around, and all the other ordinary stories going on...I'd bet it's well into the thousands. It's all still going to be awesome, just the same. :D Can't wait to read more from you, soon! (I have a pineapple scented acid hose, so you'd better update ASAP XD XD XD)

An interesting start, I'm intrigued. And a good premise for a storyline, Shawn writing down moments of his life because he nearly died. Loved worried Gus! I'm curious to see whether you're going to tackle things chronologically or not. And since this is set a few years in the future, there might be some interesting changes as well. More please?
Author's Response: Thanks! And the moments won't be chronological for two reasons: One-this is Shawn and he is pretty random in his thinking most of the time :D and Two-It will be easier for me to write if it jumps around a bit. Lame excuses, I know, but... Oh, well. :)
