Lassiter hates Shawn, but why? Is it really because he knows Shawn’s a fake? Lassiter knows it isn’t. He actually likes having the kid around, reminds him of a time long ago, that would be why he doesn’t convince Henry to squeal on him.
“Hello, Lassie, got anything for me today?” a very familiar, enthusiastic voice asks, knocking him out of his thoughts.
“Hello, Spencer. No, I don’t, ask O’Hara.” He’s not in the mood to debate with Shawn today.
“OK. Later.” Shawn says before disappearing from the office. Lassiter watched Shawn happily talked to his partner. He was once again reminded of a kid he used to know.
“Carl, please throw the ball around with me. Bobby’s sick and Gordy’s grounded.” A young boy pleaded with sixteen-year-old Carlton Lassiter.
“I can’t, Ricky. I’ve go to finish this Algebra. I mean, unless you wanna do it?” Carlton asked jokingly.
“Uh, no. I’ve already finished my homework. It was real easy, we just had the nine times table, which I’m not sure Mrs. Lenbet realizes can be done on the hands.” Ricky said smiling as he hopped up on Carlton’s bed.
“Yeah, I remember that. She’s a really, um, interesting teacher.” He said smiling.
“That’s for sure.”
“Hey, I gotta finish this. If it’s not done by dinner, Dad’ll have my head. Says if I get another C, I have to quit the wrestling team.” He said, a look of horror on his face.
“Right. Well, then I’ll see ya at dinner or maybe not.” Ricky said as he got up off the bed, making sure to stick his tongue out at Carlton.
“Lassiter!” he heard someone shout his name. Looking up from his arms, where he had embarrassingly enough dozed off, he spotted Juliet. He quickly wiped his face and ran a hand through his hair.
“Hey, Spencer gone?” he asked, making sure to let the annoyance show.
“Yep, and you and I have to meet up with him. We’ve got a new case. Kid, about twelve years found in an alley, barely alive. Has said only one thing so far and it was 'Catch him.'."Juliet told him. He could tell she was trying hard to stay professional.
“Name?” he asked, focusing on cold hard facts and making sure not to go back to the dream/memory he had had.
“Bobby Davis. We found a name on his back pack.” She told him.
“Alright. Well, let’s go. There’s a case out there and the only people out there is some punk who barely knows really what he’s doing and his buddy.” He said bitterly, referring to Shawn and Gus.
“Alright.” And with that the two of them were off to meet Shawn and Gus in the alley.
